Odyssey Marine Exploration has discovered hundreds of shipwrecks across the globe. The artifacts, treasure and knowledge recovered from these fascinating time capsules provide a unique opportunity to share the excitement of shipwreck exploration in various exhibit venues.

Many of the artifacts recovered from our shipwreck projects remain in Odyssey's permanent collection and are available for exhibits and further study. Our exhibit displays feature a diversity of shipwreck artifacts, combined with high-definition video or photographs from numerous deep-ocean sites around the world. Some exhibit venues also offer the opportunity to showcase the technology and methods we utilize to discover and excavate shipwreck sites hundreds and even thousands of feet below the ocean's surface.

Odyssey exhibits include:

• Odyssey’s SHIPWRECK! Pirates & Treasure is an interactive multi-media exhibit featuring over 500 artifacts recovered from our deep-ocean shipwreck expeditions around the world. Visitors are also immersed in the technology and process Odyssey uses to find and recover shipwreck treasures. The exhibit has been showcased at the Witte Museum in San Antonio, TX; G.WIZ - The Science Center in Sarasota, the Maryland Science Center in Baltimore, MD; Discovery Place in Charlotte, NC; Science Museum Oklahoma in Oklahoma City; the Detroit Science Center; the Museum of Science and Industry in Tampa and in New Orleans. • Odyssey's Virtual Museum is accessible to anyone around the world at any time, free of charge. The Museum showcases some of the extraordinary artifacts that have been recovered by Odyssey in the deep ocean. The Museum is continually growing and objects are being added on a regular basis.
• A collection of 45 rare coins from the SS Republic shipwreck, minted in New Orleans from 1844 through 1861, is currently showcased at the New Orleans Mint (known today as the Old U.S. Mint). This unique exhibit features examples of die errors and a rare 17 coin set of 1861-O Liberty Seated Half Dollars struck at the New Orleans Mint which chronicles the Federal government, Louisiana government and Confederate States of America control over the mint that year.
• The American Victory Ship in Tampa displays an Odyssey Shipwreck Exploration display that showcases the advanced technology used by Odyssey, as well seafaring history and 24 authentic artifacts from the Civil War-era SS Republic.

Odyssey's SHIPWRECK! Pirates & Treasure appeals to the universal fascination with shipwrecks, pirate lore and sunken treasure. The exhibit features the compelling stories behind some of the world's most famous shipwrecks, their treasure and historical artifacts. Multiple hands-on interactive exhibits and computer games engage visitors with the adventure and excitement of deep-ocean shipwreck exploration, as well as intrigue them with pirate history and legend.

In particular, the exhibit provides guests a close-up encounter with the wreck of the SS Republic, a side-wheel steamship lost in a fierce hurricane off the coast of Georgia in 1865. Discovered 1,700 feet below the surface of the Atlantic, the shipwreck  site presents a stunning time capsule of life in America immediately after the close of the Civil War. The archaeological excavation, the first of its kind ever conducted at such depths, produced more than 51,000 gold and silver coins and nearly 14,000 artifacts, a wealth of mid-19th century trade goods hidden on the ocean floor for over a century.

Through the use of multi-media and innovative technology, Odyssey’s interactive exhibits merge elements of science, technology, history, marine archaeology, weather and navigation. The experience includes piloting a virtual submersible over the Republic shipwreck site, operating a robotic manipulator arm to recover coins, and battling the forces of nature in a 75-mph hurricane tube.

Odyssey’s SHIPWRECK! Pirates & Treasure offers a diversity of hands-on opportunities combined with high-resolution graphics and authentic shipwreck artifact and treasure displays to promise visitors of all of ages a rare and extraordinary journey into the deep ocean!
