Bronze Bell with Inscription

Located at the bow end of the SS Republic shipwreck site, the bronze bell was recovered in October 2003. It bears the inscription "SSEE" indicative of the ship's original name, and helped confirm the identity of the vessel which was originally named SS Tennessee.
