Pressed Glass Crucifix Candlestick

The excavation of the wreck of the SS Republic produced 26 intact pressed glass crucifix candlesticks in green and white glass, manufactured by the Boston and Sandwich Glass Company of Massachusetts. Founded in 1825, the company was one of the first glass firms to utilize the press for the mass production of glass and was one of the leading manufacturers of pressed glass prior to the American Civil War.
