Traveling and fixed exhibits and attractions are being developed to showcase Odyssey's projects and technology.

MARKETING SHIPWRECK
PROJECTS

The public is fascinated with shipwrecks, ancient discoveries and nautical history as witnessed by the recent success and media coverage of "Pirates of the Caribbean," "Master and Commander," the Hunley , Monitor and of course, the Titanic. The public's interest in shipwrecks seems insatiable.

Odyssey plans to take the public's fascination with shipwrecks to the next level by providing many opportunities to share in the excitement, including:

  • Television specials that bring together the history and search/recovery of shipwrecks
  • Production and distribution of videos and books chronicling shipwrecks discovered by Odyssey
  • Coin sales
  • Sales of reproduction coins and artifacts and other nautical merchandise
  • Traveling and permanent exhibitions and attractions

The three primary revenue streams for Odyssey are; cargo and trade goods sales, merchandise sales, and experiential attractions and intellectual property.

CARGO and TRADE GOODS SALES

"Cargo sales", refers to items or "cargo" found on a ship that are not considered culturally significant. For example, if a shipwreck was found with a large cargo of coins, Odyssey might market and sell some of those coins, after documentation and study of the coins and setting aside a representative sample for future study and exhibition.

This will be Odyssey's primary source of revenue. The Company has selected appropriate numismatic partners to facilitate sales direct to collectors, conduct auctions, and market directly to potential customers through television and the Internet. Coins will also be sold at the retail level and in conjunction with attractions and exhibits.

MERCHANDISE SALES

Merchandise sales comprise any items sold that are not recovered from a particular shipwreck. This merchandise can include artifact replicas (including jewelry), logo merchandise, videotapes, books and other nautically oriented products. Merchandise may be sold through retail outlets, via the Internet, in conjunction with exhibits, or through direct marketing, which includes documercials.

EXPERIENTIAL ATTRACTIONS AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Fixed and traveling exhibits and attractions are being developed to present Odyssey's individual shipwreck stories and artifacts. The exhibits will also showcase the technology and excitement of deep ocean shipwreck search and recovery. In addition to income from attraction admission fees, all of the exhibit plans include opportunities for additional merchandising.

Intellectual Property (IP) rights will include the development and sale of books, publications, television films and educational materials. Companies wishing to participate in the extensive exposure inherent in these Odyssey projects will pay sponsorship fees to be included in the programs.

OTHER SHIPWRECK PROJECTS

In addition to marketing the results of Odyssey's own successful shipwreck recovery operations, groups that engage in joint ventures with Odyssey, or purchase data and/or projects from Odyssey, will require the same marketing services.

There is a large gap between the traditional shipwreck hunter's ability to market their materials and the public's ability to access them. Typically, because of the limited supply of artifacts, no single shipwreck recovery has enough profit potential to support a large-scale marketing plan. However, now that access to the trove of deep shipwrecks is virtually assured by technology, this should all change.

The ongoing support of shipwreck exploration depends on the development of a sophisticated marketing network. It is Odyssey's intention to offer services for marketing shipwreck artifacts, replicas and collectibles for other projects as well as our own.

Odyssey believes that by building a worldwide marketing network, and by building brand recognition we can create a business that can last long after the shipwrecks have been recovered and conserved. This will provide a permanent source of revenue that is not dependent on continued discoveries.
