Odyssey's preliminary survey and photomosaic work revealed beautiful images of the shipwreck of the SS Republic. The ship sank in 1865 after battling a hurricane while en route to New Orleans from New York. Odyssey discovered the Republic site in 1700 feet of water in the summer of 2003 and is working on the archaeological excavation of the site.
