While conducting deep-water shipwreck exploration in the western Mediterranean in late 2004 and early 2005, Odyssey Marine located 23 potential targets and completed preliminary excavations on 7 sites. These initial excavations resulted in artifacts and data being transferred to Odyssey's research department in Tampa, Florida, where they will undergo further archeological examination for identification purposes.
The following photomosaics - stunning visual layouts made up of many individual photographs of shipwreck targets were captured by our Remotely Operated Vehicle, ZEUS during operations in the western Mediterranean. The photomosaics reveal some of Odyssey's discoveries deep on the ocean bottom, demonstrating the enhanced effectiveness of Odyssey's new search and recovery technologies.
For security and operational purposes, the ships are not named or identified.
